SPECIAL ATTENTION

Brethren, this is a call for special attention to be given to the sick or disabled among our members and their families. Please give a special attention to our Masonic Widows. Their names and problems are too numerous to list here. They often need help or assistance. The Sick Committee Report is given at each Stated Meeting. If you know of someone among our Widows or members, let the Sick Committee know. We have a hard time keeping up with those who are sick or need a little attention. If you know of a change of address, let the Secretary know. Keep all of these cherished ones in your prayers as well as keeping them on your visitation list.

50/60 YEAR AWARDS

Irving Lodge #1218 is blessed with many 50 Year (and more) Members, and we add to that list each year. On August 5, 2009 the Grand Lodge of Texas approved the presentation of the 50/60 Year awards to the following members. 60 Year Award: Dick Wadsworth, Jackie Norris and Vetis Davis. For the 50 Year Award: Richard Grove, Lames Lawrence, Frank Maykus,Jr. and Jack H. Thomas. Except for Brother Jack Thomas who could not make the public presentation, these Brothers will be present to receive the Award in Irving Lodge #1218 on October 24, 2009 at a covered Dish Dinner. Family, relatives and all the friends of Masonry are invited and welcome to this evening of honors, fellowship, fun and a good meal. Please make a special effort to attend to Honor these brethren.
Invite someone to join with us on this special occasion.

YOU GUESSED IT. IT’S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN

With the failure of any income from our Endowed Membership investments, it very important that Irving Lodge members respond to the call for help. Our Dues for the year 2010 are due by December 31, 2009. The annual Dues are the primary source of Income to tide us through the bills and other expenses of year 2010. Your early payment of Dues will be a help in meeting our responsibilities.

If you are an Endowed Member, the Lodge still needs your help with any donations you can afford. It would be with great appreciation you would remember Irving Lodge in your will.

Don’t you remember the excitement and enthusiasm for Masonry when you were Raised a Master Mason. ? Pay your Dues promptly and/or make a donation, then attend Lodge to help us share these same emotions with others.

IRVING SCOTTISH RITE CLUB

The Irving Scottish Rite Club has been meeting in Irving Lodge on the 4th Tuesday each month at 6:30 P.M. Please make a note that a change has been made. They will now meet on the Third Tuesday each month at 6:30 P.M. at Irving Lodge, unless special arrangements are made. For the month of October, their meeting will be held on the third Tuesday at IHOP at Hwy. 183 & Beltline.

“TAKE TIME TO READ”

Irving Lodge #1218 has started a popular program to encourage Elementary School students in Irving to take time to read. Irving Lodge has joined with Magician Carl Jones and the Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in a program aimed toward this goal. Brother Carl Jones brings the world of Magic to the kids, and the Scottish Rite Hospital for Children provides bookmarks, pencils, rulers and other items, while Irving Lodge provides the coordination and donates a bicycle to a student named by the school. Only students who meet the assigned reading requirements are accepted to the program.

J. O. Davis School was the first in May, 2008 and again in May 2009. J. O. Schulze School followed with a show in May 2009. The first program to reward kids for meeting summer time reading requirements was M. C. Lively School on September 23, 2009. A good time was had by all. The comedy and magic brought by Brother Carl Jones was a hit. The hand-out items were appreciated and the bicycle was won by Third Grade Student Fatima Hernandez and that brought tears to the eyes of her mother who wishes to thank all the masons for what they do.

KEEP SMILING

Dear God, Thank you for the baby brother, but what I prayed for was a puppy.

Dear God, I went to this wedding and they kissed right in church. Is that OK?
