Cornerstone Ceremony at Masonic Retirement Center

The cornerstone dedication was well attended. Most Worshipful Grand Master Counts and his fellow Grand Lodge Officers delivered a magnificent ceremony. Attending from Irving lodge were Right Worshipful Mike Woolsey, Treasurer Butch Murden, Senior Deacon John Thalacker, Senior Steward Bill Adra and Bro. Tony Head.

Afterward the Irving brethren met at an Irving coffee shop and shared coconut cream pie, coffee and fellowship.

Brother Mike Woolsey, of Irving lodge #1218, has just completed his term as District Deputy Grand Master of Masonic district 14B. His broad experience and years of service more than qualified him to represent the Grand Master in his district, a responsibility Brother Woolsey fulfilled with honor, distinction and humility. His service to our fraternity has earned him our respect and gratitude and we say to Right Worshipful Michael Woolsey “thank you”.

First let me say what an honor it is to be chosen as the District Deputy Grand Master of Masonic District 14B and I am looking forward to great year for all of us. As you all know, part of my duties are "official" visits to the six lodges in district 14B and if anyone is interested in attending these with me I would welcome the company and support. IN MEMORIUM

Malcolm Beal Dean was born in Lovington , New Mexico on December 7, 1928. He was Raised a Master Mason in Lovington Lodge #46 in that city on April 9, 1957. He affiliated with our Irving Lodge #1218 on February 13, 2001. The trumpet was sounded and Brother Dean entered the Gates of Heaven on January 26, 2009.

We dedicate this bulletin to the memory of Malcolm Beal Dean. May God’s comfort and consolation abide with his loved ones.

A PROBLEM FOR IRVING LODGE

To the members of Irving Lodge #1218 this means a problem for each member. Irving Lodge has Endowed Members which annually generates a large portion of our annual income. In 2006 we received from that fund $6442.05. In 2007 we received $7790.00 but in 2008 we received only $4639.80. In this 2009 year we have been inform by Grand Lodge that in all probability there will be no distribution. The fund is set up in increments of $100.00 shares and the rules for distribution is specific that no distribution will be made if the value of each share drops to less than $100.00. This is to protect the principal of the investment. The current is less than $100. Our problem is that a large part of our annual income is cut off for the year 2009. The Lodge is open for any suggestion or help that you, the members, can provide. This is our Lodge and the problems are ours, every members, to solve. We have realized all along that the Endowments did not pay in equal value to our dues. But we have advocated that if we bite the bullet for now, then our future finances would be solid. That concept is still a good one. But we never dreamed that about half of our members would provide no income from the endowments during a year. Your help is solicited. The Lodge needs your help.

FLOOR WORK CLASSES

Dean Donaldson, Past Master of Irving Lodge and Past District Deputy of Masonic District 14B is now holding classes on Monday and Wednesday at 7 PM on evenings when no degrees are scheduled. He invites those who wish to learn the proper opening and closeing of a lodge and the various stations in the conferral of the degrees.

1. My son is under a doctor’s care and should not take PE today. Please execute him.
2. Please excuse lisa for being absent she was sick and I had her shot.
3. Please excuse roland from p.e. for a few days. Yesterday he fell out of a tree and misplaced his hip.
4. John has been absent because he had two teeth taken out of his face.
5. Carlos was absent yesterday because he was playing football. He was hurt in the growing part.
6. Please excuse ray from school. He had very loose vowels.
7. Please excuse tommy for being absent yesterday. He had diarrhea, and his boots leak.
8. Please excuse jimmy for being. It was his fathers fault.
9. Sally won’t be in school a week from Friday. We have to attend her funeral.
10. Please excuse Jason for being absent yesterday. He had a cold and could not breed well.

SOME TIMES IT GETS CONFUSING

A preacher said to a farmer, “Do you belong to the Christian family?” 

“No” said the farmer, “I think they live two farms down.” 

“No, I mean are you lost?” 

“No, I’ve been here thirty years.” 

“I mean, are you ready for Judgment Day?” 

“When is it?” 

“Could be today or tomorrow.” 

“Well, when you find out for sure when it is, you let me know. My wife will probably want to go both days.”

A pastor put sanitary hot air hand dryers in the rest rooms at the church and after two weeks, took them out. When asked why, he confessed that they worked fine, but when he went in there he saw a sign that read, “For a sample of this week’s sermon, push the button.”
