As the school year nears it’s close, Irving Lodge again plans for the annual magic show for those students in various schools who have met their reading assignments during the year. Irving Lodge does the coordination and donates a bicycle to a student selected by the school. Brother Carl Jones donates his world of magic to fascinate and entertain those special students who read. The Scottish Rite Hospital donates “Take Time To Read” stickers, pencils, bookmarks, rulers, etc.
On the Thursday morning of May 6, 2010 at 8:30 A.M., the “Take Time To Read” Show goes to J. O. Davis Elementary School. Principal John Ringhauser reports there are about 700 students at the Davis School and expects about 200 to qualify to attend the show.
At 1:45 P.M. on the afternoon of May 12, 2010 the “Take Time To Read” Show moves to M. C. Lively where Teacher Kerron Dobbs bring her Bluebonnet Reading Club of about 160 students to see the mysteries of magic as brought by Brother Carl Jones. The Scottish Rite Hospital will furnish the handouts and Irving Lodge will donate the bicycle.
Masonic Lodge members are invited to each show but must present a valid drivers license to enter the schools. Please join Irving Lodge, Carl Jones and the Scottish Rite Hospital in their efforts to encourage our children to read.
