Masonic Service Bureau to host Masonic Children and Family Services at Irving Lodge

Brethren & Ladies,

The Dallas Area Masonic Service Bureau will hold its regular quarterly meeting this Monday, August 23, 2010, at Irving Lodge No. 1218, located at:

132 E. Second St.
Irving 75060 map

The Lodge phone number is: 972-253-5600.

The evening will begin at 6:30 for a meal, provided by the Stewards of Irving Lodge, and the meeting will begin at 7:15 pm. After the program presentation, which will include a very heart-warming video presentation, there will be ample opportunity to ask questions of the staff.

The program will be led by Sharon Fulcher-Tatom, the Executive Director of the Texas Masonic Children and family Services, which encompasses the former Masonic Home and School, along with a wide range of additional services not previously offered. She will be accompanied and ably assisted in the program by two of the other staff members.

I have had the pleasure of attending a presentation from these wonderful people, and I am very excited to be able to invite them to speak to the Dallas Area Masonic Service Bureau.

Kindest Fraternal Regards,
Harold Collum
Dallas Area Masonic Service Bureau

Paul Wilson Willis was born April 22, 1918. He was made a Master Mason in Irving Lodge #1218 on March 15, 1943. He was recognized as a 50 Year Member by Grand Lodge in March, 1993. After 67 plus years as a Master Mason, Brother Willis answered the call of the Death Angel on July 2, 2010.

E. H. “Ed” Waldrum, Jr. was born June 2, 1927. He was Raised a Master Mason on January 30, 1953 in Faith Lodge #1158 in Wichita Falls, Texas. He affiliated with Irving Lodge #1218 on June 11, 1957. Brother Waldrum was presented the 50 Year Masonic Service Award in Irving Lodge on October 16, 2002. He joined his Savior in Heaven on July 22, 2010.

“All the pain and grief is over, Every restless tossing passed; I am now at peace forever, Safely home in heaven at last.”
(excerpt from poem “Safely Home”, author unknown)

We dedicate this bulletin to the memory of Paul W. Willis and Ed H. Waldrum. Their souls have gone to heaven but their memory remains in our hearts.

Here we are with a work schedule that will be remembered by some of the old folks. We are scheduled to have one Master Masons Degree, one Fellow Craft Degree, and five Entered Apprentice Degrees. If you have been wanting to work in a degree; watch a degree; or learn to work in a degree, now is your chance. We always need workers. We always like to have watchers, and we always appreciate those who will learn to work in the degrees. Due to the heavy work load we are forced to go back to the old Monday/Friday night format for the degrees. On two Friday nights we will confer two degrees on each night. Come to one or come to all the degrees, but please come and enjoy the degrees and the fellowship.

Do you ask the question, “What is the Dallas Masonic Service Bureau and what does it do ?” Now your questions will be answered, plus a nice meal will be served. On Monday evening, August 23rd, at 6:30 P.M. the Stewards will serve a meal to be followed with a program by a representative of the Dallas Masonic Services Bureau. Free to bring your wife and friends.

An orientation for the newly elected candidates for the degrees and their ladies is scheduled for Wednesday evening at 7:00 P.M. on August 18, 2010. This orientation is required for the candidate before the degree is conferred and it is recommended that we invite the ladies. The degree will be conferred at a later date but on the degree date the ladies cannot attend the meeting. Certainly, we want the ladies to get to know what Masonry is and what it’s about. Any member and his lady is invited to attend the orientation if they so desire.
