GRAND LODGE OF TEXAS ANNUAL COMMUNICATIONS

The Grand Lodge of Texas will hold the Annual Communications in Waco, Texas on first Thursday, Friday and Saturday in December. Those dates are December 2, 3, & 4 , 2010.

Pre-registrations now cost $10.00 but no charge at the registration desk at Grand Lodge. Pre-formal Ceremonies start at 1:30 P.M. on Thursday and will be awards and entertainment at 7:00 PM and all of which is open to everyone. Friday morning at 9:00 AM Grand Lodge will open for business. Saturday morning Grand Lodge will open at continue with business at 8:00 AM and will hopefully be recessed around noon. The Installation is planned for Saturday afternoon at 2:00 PM. The City of Waco will provide vans to shuttle from the Hilton, Courtyard, and Shuttle Parking lot to the Grand Lodge.

“GIFT OF Life” and OFFICER/ PAST MASTER PARTY

This will be a busy December 11 Saturday for those involved in these two activities. The “Gift of Life” Blood Drive at the Irving Mall will start at noon and last until 6 PM. We may need help to relieve any Officer or Past Master at the Mall so that they may arrange to get to the Officer/ Past Master’s Party by 6:30 P.M. This Party will enjoy (?) the usual Chinese Auction which will be held again this year. Each one attending is asked to bring a gift of a value of about $10.00. No other gifts are exchanged. The gifts will be distributed by the Chinese Auction process. (Good Luck!)

PACK AND DELIVER THE WIDOW’S FRUIT BASKETS

Annually, a group of Irving Lodge members meet a week or so before Christmas and enjoy a day of packing and delivering a fruit basket to each of our Masonic Widows who live in the Irving area.

For the ones who live away from the Irving area, a Christmas Card and a small present is mailed to each. Any member who wishes to participate in the packing and delivery of the fruit baskets is invited to join us on Wednesday morning, December 15 at 8:30 A.M. We want to get all the baskets out of the lodge building as soon as possible. So, if you have a list of widows for delivery, please pick up your baskets pronto.

THE LODGE CHRISTMAS COVERED DISH DINNER

On December 18, 2010 at 6:30 P.M. Irving Lodge will have their annual Christmas Dinner.
This will be the usual covered dish dinner with the lodge providing the meat, bread and drinks. All others are asked to bring your favorite dish of vegetable, salad, or dessert. We expect about 100 to attend as this is open to family, friends and relatives. Santa will probably show up and the ever popular Shady Grove Ramblers will certainly be there to entertain.

DON’T FORGET YOUR DUES

Annual Dues in Irving Lodge are $75.00 and are due each year by December 31 to pay for the next years dues. To make it simple, we pay the dues for 2011 by December 31, 2010. Our dues are set at the amount which the lodge has voted them to be. There might come a time, before long, when we will be required to raise the amount of our dues. Nobody likes that idea, but reason and requirements must prevail. As we start our third year of no income from our 219 Endowed Memberships, we are denied more than half of our expected income. We are asking the Endowed Members to consider paying the amount of their regular dues until the economy rewards our endowments.

NEWS HEADLINES (AND COMMENTS)

“Man Kills Self Before Shooting Wife and Daughter.” (I wonder if the jury will try him in person ?)

“Something Went Wrong in Jet Crash, Experts Says” (The passengers would probably agree)

“Police Begin Campaign to Run Down Jaywalkers” (Something needs to be done about jaywalkers)

“Miners Refuse to Work after Death” (Their wages will probably be stopped at that time too)

“Red Tape Holds UP New Bridges” (That must be stronger than duct tape)

“War Dims Hope for Peace” (I can see where it might have that effect)

“Typhoon Rips Through Cemetery; Hundreds Dead” (Were they all just lately buried ?)

Fantastic Teeth Fan Club

(Fantastic Teeth Fan Club launch party)

Masonic Children & Family Services partnered with Irving Masonic Lodge to introduce a pilot program called the Fantastic Teeth Fan Club.

Through the program, Dean Alexander, Butch & Linda Murden and David Gisler presented free dental care kits to more than 160 children in elementary schools served by Irving Lodge.

We know children suffer with tooth aches. Tooth decay is the single most common chronic childhood disease. The MCFS Fantastic Teeth Fan Club gives children and parents the basic tools for good dental habits. This helps stop pain, cuts missed school days, and reduces cost for expensive dental services.

MCFC welcomes your questions about MCFS services or your referral of those in need.
