IN MEMORIAM

William C. “Bill” Schultz was born on May 7, 1920.  In his youth he was a member of the Order of DeMolay in Joplin, Missouri. He was Raised a Master Mason on July 17, 1945 in Franklin Lodge #107, Franklin, Indiana. He moved his membership to Tolerance Lodge #1165, Beaumont, Texas, then to Mount Houston Lodge #1359 in Houston in 1955 where he served as Worshipful Master in 1961-’62. He also served as President of the Masters, Wardens and Secretaries Assoc. during that time for the 30th Masonic Districts. He Affiliated with Irving Lodge #1218 on May 10, 1977.  He was presented the 65 Year Masonic Service Award in Irving Lodge on October 16, 2010.  Brother Schultz accepted God’s mandate on April 26, 2012 when he joined the Celestial Lodge Above.

“To the old rugged cross I will ever be true, its shame and reproach gladly bear.  Then he’ll call me someday to my home far away, where his glory forever I’ll share”.
(a verse from song “The Old Rugged Cross”)

We dedicate this bulletin to the memory of W.C. “Bill” Schultz.  His soul is gone to heaven but his memory stays in our hearts.

“TAKE TIME TO READ”

Magician Brother Carl Jones and the Scottish Rite Hospital are again working hand in hand with Irving Lodge #1218 to provide encouragement for the young school students to complete all reading assignments during the school year.  The “Take Time To Read” program rewards those students with the Magic Show and pencils, rulers, book marks, and other items.  In additions Irving Lodge will present a bicycle to a student selected by the school from this group. This program is intended to encourage their friends and other students to complete their reading assignments next year.

STEWARD’S PICNIC

All members, their families and friends are invited to join with us at the Annual Steward’s Picnic on May 19, 2012 at Fritz Park in Irving.  Lots of Fellowship and good fun.  Bring your favorite wife and guitar and join in the picking and grinning.

“GIFT OF LIFE” BLOOD DRIVE

There is no substitute for blood when needed. It is indeed a GIFT OF LIFE to someone when you donate.
On Saturday, June 9, 2012 Carter Blood Care will join with Irving Lodge in the collection of blood at the Irving Mall.  Age is not a factor.  Only your health and/or medication may prevent you from giving.

DON’T FORGET !

Dues in Irving Lodge are now $100 per year and are always due in advance by December 31 for the following year.  Please check you dues Card.  It should read “Dues paid through 12/31/2012”.   If it lists the date of 12/31/2011 then you are behind on you dues for 2012.  Any member whose dues are not paid by the twenty third (23rd) day of June, the Lodge will be required to automatically suspend.  Don’t delay.  Pay today.

GRIN AND BEAR IT !

THE HAIRCUT:    One day a florist went to a barber for a haircut. After the cut, he asked about a bill, and the barber replied, ‘I cannot accept money from you; I’m doing community service this week.’ The florist was pleased and left the shop. When the barber went to open his shop the next morning, there was a ‘thank  you’ card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door.

Later, a cop comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill, the barber again replied, “I cannot accept money from you, I’m doing community service this week. ‘The cop was happy and left the shop. The next morning when the barber went to open up, there was a ‘thank you’ card and a dozen donuts waiting for him at his door.

Then a congressman came in for a haircut, and when he went to pay his bill, the barber again replied, ‘I cannot accept money from you. I’m doing community service this week.’ The Congressman was very happy and left the shop. The next morning, when the barber went to open his shop, there were a dozen Congressmen lined up waiting for a free haircut
