James O. “Jimmy” Thompson was born in Dallas, Texas on December 18, 1920. He was Raised a Master Mason in Irving Lodge #1218 on August 20, 1979.  Brother Thompson was very active and generous to the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.  He laid his working tools to rest on
February 25, 2013.

Irving Masonic Lodge #1218 is pleased to recognize Mrs. Carol Ann Wood for her outstanding service to the Irving Community.  In her honor a covered dish dinner will be served on Saturday,    March 16, 2013 at 6:30 P.M. in the Irving Masonic Lodge, dining room.   All who would honor Mrs. Wood are cordially invited to attend.  The Lodge will provide the meat, bread, and drinks. All others should bring a vegetable, salad or dessert.

A special night has been set aside to provide all the lodges in the 14th Masonic District an opportunity to have an Honoree of their choice to receive the Masonic Grand Lodge of Texas esteemed Lamar Medal for young people who are outstanding achievers. The Lamar Medal is named for Mirabeau B. Lamar, the second president of the Republic of Texas.  He is known as “The Father of  Public    Education in Texas,” because  his work resulted in the State of Texas setting up a public school system. The dinner and presentations will be made to the Honorees, including one representing our Irving Lodge, at the Dallas Scottish Rite Cathedral on March 27, 2013. (attendance by ticket only)

Dues in Irving Lodge #1218 are $100.00 each year.  The 2013 Dues were due by last December 31, 2012. We find that a small number are now late in paying the 2013 Year dues.  The time to pay those dues and avoid suspension is almost here.  Avoid danger to your membership standing by remitting your dues today.   The address is: Irving Lodge #1218, P. O. Box 170397, Irving, Tx. 75017.

(copied from the Masonic Review, First Quarter, Book 3, 1960)

“Blessed is the Mason who casts aside doubts and fear and puts his trust in God; for his Faith will bring joy to his soul.  Blessed is he whose cheery smile and hearty handclasp at his lodge room door radiates a sincere Welcome; for gracious Hospitality is a test for Brotherly Love.   Blessed is the Mason who is ever ready to extend a helping hand in relief; for the greatest of these is charity.   Blessed is he whose service to the craft is a labor of Love; for his is a heart that is happy and aglow with melody.  Blessed is the Mason whose morality is on the square, conduct by the Plumb and who meets all men on the Level; for his is a Friendship that is of more value than gold.  Blessed is the Mason whose numerous visits bring comfort to the sick and to the weary; for his cable Tow is truly imbued with Love for his Brethren.”

(Second Grade Kids were asked to write a letter to God.  Here it is, in their words)

“Dear God. Maybe Cain and Abel would not kill each so much if they had their own rooms. It works with my brother.”  Larry

“Dear God, I bet it is very hard for you to love all of everybody in the whole world. There are only 4 people in our family and I can never do it.”    Nan

“Dean God, I think the staple is one of your greatest invention.”   Ruth M.

“Dear God, If we come back as something, please don’t let me be Jennifer Horton, because I hate her.” Denise

“Dear God, I am American. What are you ?”       Robert

“Dear God, Instead of letting people die and having to make new ones, why don’t you just keep the ones you got now?”    Jane

“ Dear God,  If you  watch for me in church on Sunday I will show you my new shoes.” Mickey D.

“Dear God,   I think about you sometimes even when I’m not praying.”     Elliott

“Dear God,  I went to this wedding and they kissed right in church.   Is that ok ?”     Gil

“Dear God,  In bible times did they really talk that fancy ?”  Jennifer

“Dear God,  Please put another Holiday between Christmas and Easter. There is nothing good in there now.”   Ginny
