ORDER OF THE EASTERN STAR RETURNS TO IRVING — We are happy to announce that
Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 219 lead by Worthy Matron: Jakie Spinks and Worthy Patron: Max Perry is coming home to Irving Masonic Lodge. Monthly meetings are held each 1st Monday at 7:30 PM. When 1st Monday falls on a holiday, meetings are then held on 3rd Monday.
The Order of The Eastern Star is a fraternal organization composed of women with Masonic affiliation and Master Masons. Members share a belief in the existence of a Supreme Being and promotion of the principles of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth. The degrees of the Order of the Eastern Star teach lessons of fidelity, constancy, loyalty, faith and love. These degrees are presented in a beautiful ritualistic ceremony designed to not only teach the lessons, but also to provide insight for future study and understanding. This year’s Chapter charity is Patriot Paws Service Dogs. (visit www.patriotpaws.org for more info)
The Eastern Star is also a social organization with frequent formal events and ceremonies. Being a member is a wonderful and a fulfilling way of life. Please ask an Eastern Star to tell you more about it! Secretary: Donna Terlisner (214) 789-6690
WORKER BEES — We will clean up Lodge on Sept 19th, Breakfast at PJ’s at 8am, clean lodge starting at 9am. We will need to clean and mop bathrooms, vacuum carpets upstairs and downstairs, and dust. We can use all the help we can get so we can get through by 10 or 10:30. See you there.
IRVING POLICE DEPARTMENT MASONIC CHAIR AT LODGE — The Irving Masonic Lodge has 181 chairs within the Lodge Room. 179 of those chairs bare the name of a Master Mason of the Lodge. Those Masons paid $100 to have a small brass emblem with their name placed on "their" chair. This event occurred about 12 years ago. One of those chairs was purchased in the name of "IPD Masons". There is no name of an IPD Mason on that chair. Recently it was approved by the Lodge that any former, current or retired member of the Irving PD could have their name on a small brass emblem affixed to the "IPD" chair. This is a permanent fixture to the chair. What is the cost? Just $50! That is a savings of $50. A Brother Mason has already bought the chair several years ago and it just awaits your name. I believe that each of the 33 IPD Masons would be honored to have their name on "our" and will want to participate in this to show their support of the Irving Masonic Lodge. If you can't come by the Lodge to write your check, just drop it into the mail addressed Irving Masonic Lodge, 132 E. Second, P O Box 170397, Irving TX 75017. Make the check payable to the Irving Masonic Lodge and indicate that it is for the "IPD Masons". — Hon. Jerry Wicker
TEXAS MASONIC FAMILY DAY — The Grand Lodge of Texas has proclaimed Saturday, October 10, 2015 (10:00 am - 4:00 pm) as Texas Masonic Family Day. PUNNY — Venison for dinner again? Oh deer! • Haunted French pancakes give me the crepes. • England has no kidney bank, but it does have a Liverpool. • Jokes about German sausages are the wurst. • I know a guy who's addicted to brake fluid, but he says he can stop any time. • This girl said she recognized me from the vegetarian club, but I'd never met herbivore. • What do you call a dinosaur with an extensive vocabulary?
A thesaurus. • Velcro - what a rip off !
